Privacy

Last updated 2026-09-24. Changes: named the postal address, said plainly that a chart names no star, listed only the print partners we use, and added the refunds and cookies pages.

PaintedApp, LLC, 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202, runs Painted Heavens and is the controller of the personal data described here. We collect little, we keep it only as long as it is useful to you, and we do not sell it. Write to support@painted.app about any of it.

What we collect, and why

Your moment: the date, time, and place you enter. We need it to compute the chart; that is the whole product. The preview is computed in your browser. The place you search passes through our server to find its coordinates, and the full moment is stored only when you save it or order.

Your email: when you save a moment, place an order, ask for your downloads, or opt in to an anniversary reminder. We use it to send order confirmations, download links, and the reminders you asked for.

Your shipping address: only when you order something physical, and only to get it to you.

Payment details: we never receive them. Stripe collects and holds your card data directly; we see the outcome, nothing more.

There are no accounts and no uploads. We never ask for a photograph.

No tracking

This site runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers. It sets one cookie, only when you open a downloads link, and the cookies page describes it. If that ever changes, this page changes first and we will ask before loading anything.

Who else sees your data

Only the companies that make the order happen, and only the part each one needs:

  • Stripe: payment processing. It collects your card and billing details directly.
  • Prodigi: printing and shipping prints, canvases and frames. It receives your name, shipping address and the chart file.
  • Resend: sending order, download-link and reminder emails. It receives your email address and the message.
  • Photon by komoot: turning the place you type into coordinates, from OpenStreetMap data. It receives the search text, not your identity.
  • Fly.io: running the chart engine that renders the print file. It receives the moment (date, time, coordinates, place label), not your name or email.
  • Vercel: hosting the site, the order database and the rendered files.

Some of these operate outside your country, including in the United States. We do not share your data with anyone for their own marketing, and we never sell it.

Anniversary reminders

If you opt in, we keep your saved moment and your email so we can write to you once a year when its date comes round. Every reminder carries a one-click way to stop it, and stopping it means we never write about that moment again.

How long we keep things

  • A downloads email link works for 15 minutes; opening it signs you in for 30 minutes; each file link lasts an hour.
  • Order records, including the moment and shipping address, are kept for support, warranty, tax and accounting. Nothing deletes them on a clock today; we delete them when you ask, unless the law requires us to keep them.
  • Saved moments and reminder subscriptions are kept until you stop the reminder or ask us to delete them.
  • The print file is stored so the printer can fetch it and so a reprint is possible if something arrives damaged.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will act within 30 days. Because there are no accounts, deletion is by email: write from the address you ordered with. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to object to processing, to ask for portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, for money or for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We honour Global Privacy Control signals all the same, and we will never charge you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If a child has given us something, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
